IP Address settings on Canvas Quizzes carry forward with imports between terms so including additional campus locations can prevent issues in the future with students attempting to take the exam at other Lane testing locations.
If these instructions do not match what you see:
You are likely using Classic Quizzes in Canvas. Classic Quizzes are generally not recommended by ATC for Lane's Canvas instance. It is highly recommended you contact the ATC to coordinate support to transition your Classic Quizzes to New Quizzes and Item Banks.

Select the Canvas Quiz on your course module page that will be proctored in-person.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Build” at the bottom right.
- Select the "Settings" tab at the top of the page.
- Select the "Filter IP addresses" setting to enable IP restriction. (It will appear green with a check mark when it is turned on.)
- Under "Select from existing group ranges" use the drop down to select the appropriate testing locations. (They will appear in tags within the box when they have successfully been added.)
CAR Testing
CAR prefers IP address use but may communicate via email if password is required during your test time frame if a student is actively planning to test with CAR. It is generally recommended to add CAR to any test being proctored in-person to future proof this setting for students who may opt to take their exam with CAR.
The setting will save after every change made on this page and a confirmation message will appear for a short time after. You can select Return at the top right of the page to go back to the Quizzes page in Canvas.
