Introduction to MyLane for Faculty

Learn how to use myLane to track attendance, view class list, check the detailed schedule and more.

Confidentiality of Information

 All Lane employees are bound by federal law and college policy regarding the protection of confidential information. In that connection, we have agreed not to view student or staff personal information that does not directly pertain to our jobs, and not to share or use any student or staff personal information outside of the scope of our jobs. 

The full statement of college policy on privacy of information can be viewed online at: COPPS Privacy Policy.  Review the policy before accessing any student-specific information. 

Staff are reminded in particular that if a student’s information in myLane is marked “CONFIDENTIAL” then no information whatsoever about that student may be released to a third party.  If you have question about any matters of confidentiality, contact Student Records at x 5691. 

Under no circumstance should a staff person ask a student to provide his or her PIN number for access into myLane.  

Ensure that your private information is protected; logout of myLane when you are finished with a session and close the browser. 

 

Accessing Faculty Information in myLane 

 

Type in your L number and Password, then select the Login button.

If you have forgotten your password, select “Forgot your password?” and follow the instructions.


After successfully logging into myLane, you will be directed to the myLane Home Page. 

  • To access faculty-related tools, click on myStudent Services, or 
  • Select the Faculty/Advisor tab at the top of the page. 


This will take you to the section where you can manage your courses, view student information, enter grades, and more. 

 

Under Faculty Services select the Faculty Dashboard. 

 

 

Reminder:

If you see tabs such as Student Records, Student Accounts, and Financial Aid, these relate to your personal student records at Lane. This means you have been, or currently are, a student at Lane in addition to being faculty or staff. 

 


 

To return to the myLane homepage or access other areas such as the Employee Dashboard, click on the Main Menu in your browser window. From there, you can select the desired section within myLane.

Once you select the Faculty Dashboard, the Faculty Services Menu will appear, providing access to various faculty-related tools and features.


Attendance Tracking

Tool to track attendance for your course.  

  1. Select Take Roll  
  2. Choose the date the student was present 


Note: The system only allows attendance to be recorded on the scheduled meeting days of the course.

Assignments


View of your current and history of course assignments.


Class List

View you course rosters, email individual student or the entire class  Select the Subject to view class list.  

Several areas in Class List can be clicked to provide more information:

  • Clicking anywhere in a row associated with a course will open the Course Roster (detailed information on the Course Roster is below)
  • Clicking on a Course Title will open up detailed information about the course
  • Clicking on the CRN will open up detailed information about that that section
     

Course Roster

  • Shows a list of all the students in a course including student picture (if available), Student Name, ID, level, etc
  • Hovering over the student’s name will show you detailing information about that student including major, email, phone number, etc.
  • Change between Summary and Detail view by clicking 
  • You can also view Wait Listed students on this paged by clicking the Wait List tab
  • Customize what information shows on the Class Roster or any page that has the icon below

To email students: 

  1. Select individual students by clicking the checkboxes on the left (highlighted in red). 
  2. To select all students at once, click the checkbox at the top of the list. 
  3. Once students are selected, click the envelope icon to send an email to the selected students. 



    To view the student program by selecting their L number from the class list. 

Detailed Schedule

View a breakdown of your teaching assignments by term. To see specific details, select the desired term and CRN. 

To see specific details, use the drop downs to select the desired Term and CRN.
You can open Course and CRN information from this page.


Grade Entry

Enter midterm and final grades for your courses. You can enter midterm and final grades for your courses using the Grade Entry tool. 

  1. To begin, select either the Midterm Grades or Final Grades tab, depending on which type of grades you wish to submit. 
  2. Once the appropriate tab is selected, you will see a list of your courses eligible for grade entry. 
  3. Enter the grades as required and be sure to save or submit your entries as prompted.


 


Student Registration History

Review a student's course registration history. Select the term

  1. Enter the student's L-number, last name, or first name. 
  2. Click the Submit button. 
  3. Click on the students L-number from the Student and Advisee Selection 


Note: Faculty can only view the registration history for students currently enrolled in one of their courses. 


Week at a Glance

View a weekly overview of your current course schedule for a specific week of the term. 

  1. Use the calendar button on the right side of the screen (next to the Go button) to select the week you want to review. 
  2. Click Go to display the schedule. 

Note: Only courses with an assigned times will appear in the "Week at a Glance" view. 



Office Hours

  • View and enter your available office hours.
  • Use this page to create and maintain office hours per class.
  • From/To date are required.
  • From Time and To Time are in 24-hour format (Military Time)
  • Contact number is a drop-down list which pulls from your Employee contact information in Self Service Banner.  You can change or update your number by going to the Employee tab in the Four Square menu and clicking Employee profile. 
  • Location is a short answer field
  • Once you are ready to share this information with students you much check the Display check box
  • Submit is needed to save any information you have entered
  • Students can view your office hours by clicking the CRN number on their schedule

Credential Review

Enter or update your professional credentials.
