What is a G Number?

What's the difference between a G number and an L number?

Last Updated: May 31st, 2022

During the application process, students are often assigned a G number. This is an application ID used to log back into an admissions application that isn't finished in one sitting, so that you won't have to start the whole application process over again.

For new students, this G number can easily be confused with the L number. Here are the key differences:

  • L numbers are used to access sites like ExpressLane and Moodle for the duration of your studies at Lane. You will use the L number more than once.
  • G numbers are only used during the application process. Once you're enrolled, the G number is obsolete.
