CollegeNow / High school connections instructors approved to teach specific articulated courses (such as CIS 101, CS 120, CIS 125M, CIS 125G, and CS 160) should request & receive persistent Moodle shells that are remain active year-round and are not tied to a CRN.
These shells function differently from Lane’s standard 11-week term courses in that they stay available for continuous instruction, and do not reset automatically, and are ideal for high school–based courses that operate outside Lane’s academic calendar.
How Persistent Shells Work
Each certified CollegeNow instructor is assigned one persistent Moodle shell per approved course. These courses will be placed inside Programs and Groups > CollegeNow / HS Connections category.
Students must be manually activated and enrolled since CollegeNow / High school Connection courses do not automatically sync with LaneCC's student information system (Banner).
At the end of each school year, instructors should back up the course and remove student data to prepare for the next cohort. Instructors needing assistance should first contact HS
When students register for college credit through ExpressLane/myLane, a separate CRN-based shell may be automatically created—this course should remain hidden.
