If you are new to Moodle, or if you need a bit of a refresher in some of the basics, check out the Moodle courses that we have available to instructors. They will go over concepts such as course navigation, building, and management.

Core Concepts

    • MoodleDocs is an online encyclopedia and knowledgebase built by the Moodle community. This article gives you a quick crash course on key Moodle concepts.

  • Instructor Support - System-Wide Alerts

Course Design and Development

Instructional Design Services is geared to support instructors in the development and growth of distance education courses. The idea is to tap into not just one or two experts in instruction and technology but to connect and provide a network of support and expertise from within Lane’s own distance education teaching community. Utilities and services offered by IDS include:

  • Foundations of Course Design [FCD]
    • FCD is a quarterly asynchronous course available to instructors covering current research and best practices around teaching and course development. You are able to be paid for your time taking it (10 hours at CD rate). It is led by the Instructional Design team.
  • IDS Course Template [OSCQR]
    • If you're unsure where to begin when designing your online course, the IDS Course Template provides an excellent starting point and a basic framework for online instruction. It is available to all instructors, and can be imported into a Moodle shell at any time either by yourself or by the ATC.
