Changing Your College Password via Logging In

Directions to change your password if you already have access to myLane

Last Updated: August 1st, 2025

Systems such as myLane, Moodle, Google, and Gmail accounts all share the same authentication password. If you change or reset your college password, your password in many of LaneCC's connected systems will automatically be updated as well.

How to Change or Reset Your College Password

Forgot your password?

Go to myLane's Forgot Password page where you can reset or choose a new password.

Follow these steps if you can log into myLane:

  • Step 2: Click on the "Set new password using a Current or Temporary Password" link. Screenshot of new password dialog boxes

  • Step 3: Enter your L-Number, current or temporary password, and a new password
    • Choose a new password:
      • Length of 12-16 characters
      • Must include at least 1 number and 1 letter
      • May include capital letters (the password is case-sensitive)
      • May include special characters (Only &, %, or @ are not allowed)

  • Step 4: Confirmation: You will see the following note if everything is done correctly.Screen shot of Password Reset Confirmation ScreenPassword Reset Successful Confirmation Screen

How long before I can use my new Password?

It can take 15-30 minutes for your new password to be updated throughout all of the colleges connected systems but Moodle typically will accept an updated password within 10-15 minutes. All password changes must be made at my.lanecc.edu/me (you can not update your password from within Moodle).

If you are able to log in to myLane but unable to log in to Moodle, please contact the Student Help Desk (SHeD) for assistance.
